Below is my Bowflex SelectTech 552 Adjustable Dumbbells review!
These Bowflex Adjustable Dumbbells are about 15 inches long, and can go from 5 pounds to 52.5 pounds. You can also buy the stand from Amazon to go with them (it is better for your back if you lift dumbbells from a standing position instead of a bending position).
You want to make sure you do not drop these dumbbells more than and inch or two from the ground, they are sturdy but delicate since they can be adjusted and the weights are loose.
Buy the 2009 Model
There have been some complaints about this product and how the weights on the dumbbells can fall off. However, the 2009 model version of these dumbbells (pictured right) are WAY better than the 2008 model. The 2009 model holds the weights in place with metal dials, and the 2008 model holds them with plastic dials. Of course the weights will fall if they are supported by plastic. When you purchase these you MUST buy the 2009 model or you will have weights falling on you with the 2008 model. The 2009 model is about $50 more than the 2008 model, but it is WELL worth it.
The support for this product can be good and bad. One review said they complained about a weight falling off and hitting their toe (2008 model), and the support basically told them “oh well.” But then another review stated that they had broken the handle on the dumbbells, and they replaced them within a week. So depending on who is trying to help you from the Bowflex Support system, you might be taken care of or not cared about at all.
There is a warranty on them for the first 2 years, where they will replace anything broken within that time period.
