And some women who store their fat in the abdominal area have higher cortisol levels, as opposed to women who store their fat in their hips.

Exercise is the best and fastest way to lose weight if you are stressed. Endorphins (something your body produces during a workout) tend to fight your stress and can lower cortisol levels. Yoga can also help lower your stress hormone levels. To effectively reduce elevated cortisol due to stress, lifestyle changes are essential.
However, you also want to make sure you are not highly stressed when you are working out because it can put more stress on your body. You want to workout when your stress level is low or moderate so that you will burn more fat and not store it as you exercise.
Also, a lot of stress is caused by how you specifically perceive it. If you are pessimistic and think the world is going to stop turning every time something goes wrong, then you will have higher stress levels. If you are optimistic and always think that everything will work out, then you will have lower stress levels.
