Hey guys! Today I will be doing a review on the Vibration Plate (aka The Power Plate, which is a brand of vibration plate). There are many versions of vibration plates, so I will cover all of the different types and the benefits of using them. This is a FANTASTIC piece of equipment for your home!


What is The Vibration Plate?

Vibration plates are the latest addition to “passive exercises.” These fitness-training aids are becoming more and more popular. They are starting to appear in many gyms, weight loss salons, and you may have seen them in your friends’ homes. The Vibration Plate is a flat surface plate that vibrates as you use it for working out at home, stretching, and improving your overall health. They do not take up much space at all, and they are very easy to store away.

They can also cut your workout time in half, while still getting the benefits of a long workout. This is great for people who do not have extra time throughout the day to workout or go to a gym. A 30 min workout on a Vibration Plate will feel like you worked out for over an hour!

How Does The Vibration Plate Work?

The Vibration Plate vibrates while you use it. It’s that simple! It is based on the concept of “whole body vibration,” which involves standing on a platform with vibrating plates positioned beneath your feet. These machines send vibration signals that trick the brain into thinking that you’re falling. In response to this instability, your muscles contract and relax multiple times per second in order to stabilize your body. This intensifies workouts, improves flexibility, etc. They contract and relax almost 50 times more than they would during a normal workout.

Since vibration plates cause the muscles to contract and relax at a greater rate per second, performing dynamic strength training exercises (like lunges, squats, tricep dips, and push-ups) on a vibration plate will help build and tone muscles. It has been found that the vibrations generated by a vibration plate can help increase bone mineral density. Having stronger bones has its own advantages, but especially for people who suffer from certain diseases (such as osteoporosis). Vibration training has also helped postmenopausal women increase lumber bone mineral density and leg strength.

Cuts Workout Time In Half

This is the biggest non-health related benefit of using vibration plates. The vibrations that these machines generate cause anywhere from 30 – 50 muscle reflexes per second. As a result, vibration training can recruit up to 100% of your muscles’ fibers. Traditional resistance training exercises only engage 40% – 60% of your muscles’ fibers.

Vibration plates intensify workouts so that you can get more done in less time during your strength training sessions. Some manufacturers claim that a 10-minute session on their machines can deliver the same intensity as an hour of conventional exercise. However, it also depend on the frequency and amplitude that you choose to work with while exercising on a vibration plate. For the best possible results, most fitness experts recommend at least a 15 – 30 minute session of vibration training 3 – 4 times a week.

Stimulates Production of Helpful Hormones

Because whole body vibrations use up muscle tissues, they encourage your body to produce increased levels of human growth hormone (HGH) to repair and regenerate damaged muscles and bone tissue. It also helps your body reduce production of cortisol (the hormone responsible for stress) and produce more serotonin (the hormone that induces feelings of happiness and well-being). This is why many most people sleep better after starting whole body vibration training.

Improves Immune Function and Blood Circulation

Since the vibration plate contracts your muscles at high levels, it causes the blood to circulate more throughout your body and stimulates your lymph glands at the same time. An increased flow of lymph fluid through the body will help to strength your immune function. Also, better blood circulation will ensure that every cell in your body receives adequate oxygen and nutrients.

Whole body vibration training can also help relieve spinal pain, improve your posture, and reduce cellulite by stimulating collagen production.

Types of Vibration Plates – Which One is The Best?

There are lots of different kinds of vibration plates, but I will go over 4 of them. I have put them in order from lowest price to highest price.

Affordable Vibration Plates

  • The Super Deal Crazy Fit Vibration Plate – This is the most affordable vibration plate that works really well, and it also has Bluetooth so you can connect your favorite device and listen to music while you are working out or stretching. It is the smallest plate I have seen, so it will easily fit anywhere in your home. It comes with resistance bands for you to use when you are working out, and also a remote control to control the vibrations.
  • The Pinty 2000W Whole Body Vibration Platform – This is a bigger vibration plate that will have to have a specific spot in your home, but this is the only piece of workout equipment that you will need. It will still fit in a smaller space that other types of equipment, and it has wheels so you can move it easily. It has a 2000W motor that will quietly shake your whole body, it has an MP3 player, there are 180 speed adjustments, and there is a LED monitor that can display your pulse, time, speed, etc. It can hold up to 330lbs, and it comes with resistance bands.

The Best Vibration Plates

  • The Power Plate Vibrating Platform – This is the small version of the Power Plate, the best vibrating machine there is! It vibrates MUCH better than the ones above, it comes with resistance bands and a bag, and it is a good size! You can also use your iPhone or Android to connect to their app (YOURTRAINER) for customized Power Plate personal training workouts. This vibration plate would be my #1 recommendation.

  • The Power Plate My3 ibration Trainer – This is just a larger version of the Power Plate above. It is convenient to have handles to hold on to while you are vibrating sometimes, especially for older people or people that have stability problems. The vibrations are the BEST, it comes with resistance bands, and you can control the vibrations at the top. It will most likely stay in one spot in your home, but as you get results and start to feel better it will be your most prized possession.

Final Thought

Given the MYRIAD of benefits that Vibration Plate has, having one in you home is a “no-brainer!” No wonder it is becoming increasingly popular.

However, just like with any exercise program your results will also depend on your eating habits. You can do the Vibration Plate workout 10-15 minutes a day and start seeing results, but only if you are eating healthy. For a jump start to begin a healthy lifestyle and clean out your body, try a detox cleanse! It will help get rid of all the toxins in your body and teach you how you should be eating. Try to cut out processed foods, limit sugar/carbs, and gets LOTS of fruits and vegetables. If you do this while using the Vibration Plate you will see the pounds shed off your body and see a HUGE improvement in your strength.

  1. Interesting post.

    I’m in the bodybuilding and fitness world for a few years now, and I’ve seen a lot of these things passing by.

    I’m not the guy who is saying this stuff is bad, it actually works, but there is a but.

    You can do this, but only if you want to have a small amount of muscle, if you want to do it more hardcore (like me and the people I train), this is good as basic, but you need more exercise by yourself anyway.

    For who is it good for? For people who needs to exercise, such as people who are sitting behind a desk all the day.

    1. Actually Emmanuel, this piece of equipment is good for people of all fitness levels. Yes it is good for people who sit behind a desk all day, but it is also good for a hardcore workout. 

      Doing isometric holding exercises on this plate really fires the muscles and can make you a lot more sore than doing an intense workout with weights. All you need is your body with this equipment, and you can build muscle even better than any other workout!

  2. Fitness technology is ever evolving . New trends constantly show up anywhere. Who has these ideas 

    I laughed.

    Basically it makes your muscles behave as if one fall . Muscles has to keep balance and seek it out by contracting and extracting many times. Very clever idea, only thing is i guess the smaller muscles are more exercised while the large muscle groups might be overlooked. Anyway small muscles are foundational , most of our sitting , standing and walking involve smaller muscle groups . I would not be bothered training  the smaller ones. Probably an exercise version where almost every person is able to perform.

    1. Yes, anyone can use this equipment. However, it also fires the larger muscle groups as well as the smaller ones. So this can be a challenge for any fitness level, depending on how you use it. It will make you more sore using this than doing any other workout! But thanks for sharing.

Thank you for such a wonderful post on the benefits of whole body vibration.I am in possession of losing fat these days that’s why i am interested in different ways of using to lose fat.After reading this post i found that it is very interesting .I have a question about the consequences that can be caused by body vibration plate.

    I need to know more about the benefits and consequences that can cause those vibration plates.

    1. Hello Julienne,

      I’m not sure what you mean by consequences, but nothing you do on the plate will hurt you unless you do not have the correct form. The benefits are endless, and I have most of them laid out above in the post.

      This equipment would be VERY beneficial for you to use if your goal is weightloss! Just 10-15 minutes a day will make a dramatic difference in your strength, flexibility, and weight.

  4. Thank you for such an informative article on vibration plates. This is well detailed reviews which gives the best information that everyone would need. I’ve been going to the gym but didn’t think using the vibration plate was vital at all. 

    Two months ago I started using it by the help of my instructor. He set it to vibrate for 5 minutes and even though the experience was a little scary for the first time, the results were excellent. 

    I experienced a lot relaxed moments after the gym and I felt so nice. In fact that night I had a very nice sleep compared to other days.

    I would like to to buy a machine of my own and wonder which one is your recommendation?

    1. Thanks for the comment! I would definitely recommend the smaller Power Plate listed above because it vibrates the best, it will give you the most out of your workouts, and it will fit in your home. It is a little more pricey than the others out there, but worth it!
